Adult Relief Worker
General Responsibilities:
To work flexible schedule in a variety of settings with children/adults who have developmental, emotional, and behavioural challenges within the community. This position may cover urgent needs as well as prescheduled relief requests, to individuals in their home environment or the Relief House. The scheduling may change on short notice. To keep Relief Specialist Supervisor fully up to date.
Ensures quality care of individuals in their homes, in the community or the Relief House. Provides support, promotes therapeutic interactions, and completes required documentation for the individual(s). Advocates for a lifestyle that promotes quality of life. Assists the individual(s) in achieving their lifestyle wishes and desires. This position is responsible for quality assurance through adherence to Agency and Position Standards..
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Post-Secondary education in Rehabilitation or Human Services. Related education will be considered.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience working with a variety of individuals (e.g., individuals who are dependent handicapped, mental health challenges, and/or emotionally/behaviourally challenged).
- Ability to work independently in a variety of settings.
- Availability for support hours at short notice.
- Use of personal vehicle may be required.
